Femme Fatale
There's nothing like a gorgeous woman being thrown in front of a truck by two thugs to make us think "Brian de Palma erotic thriller." Well, actually a thug doing something horrible to a gorgeous woman with a 3' drill bit is the quintessential image, but that's a different film. The point is, the venerable Mr. de Palma's style is never more identifiable than in this genre. It's as if he wants to be Hitchcockian, but can't resist slick, glossy sensationalism. So the best guide to whether you'll enjoy this film is whether you enjoy his other thrillers. For those unfamiliar with his work, Femme Fatale won't win an "Or de Palma," but may be an adequate, if puzzling, thriller.
If you dislike de Palma's style, or you're uncomfortable with steamy lesbian sex, frequent symbolism, female nudity, gory (but brief) violence or French-noir lite, don't watch. This isn't really a date movie, unless your date thinks Siesta and Body Double are the greatest movies ever made, in which case you should sit in an empty row in the back because there's a scene that will get the two of you knocking it out right there.
If you liked the movies below, you'll probably like this one (and visa versa):
