Web Log Entry #0044, Friday, February 14, 2003: Day 88
Anchorage Sunrise: 8:46am Sunset: 5:42pm High Temp: 33° Low Temp: 30° Hey, I'm in the paper! Okay, just the "Anchorage Daily News" (motto: All the news from Alaska, plus a bunch of filler from the newswires!), but it has the largest daily circulation of any newspaper in all of Anchorage! Granted, it isn't hard to get in the paper here. A lot of people do it by shooting The Pipeline, which isn't exactly a difficult target. It's ten feet tall and it is what experts call "stationary". You'd have to be really drunk to miss. Of course, you'd have to be really drunk to think shooting the Pipeline is a good idea. Especially since causing an oil spill is a felony in Alaska. But it does get you in the paper, even with that down side. I guess Alaskans really believe that line that even bad publicity is a good thing. Of course, Speed Dating isn't a felony in Alaska (as far as I know), so I was happy to be in the news. We'll see how many people want autographs.
