LITTLE CITY

It's no secret that people watch movies so they will know how to deal with difficult decisions in their own lives. For example, Little City explores what to do when you're pining for your previous girlfriend who left you for another woman and you just left your current girlfriend because she was sleeping with your best friend (due to the aforementioned pining), and you've just met another woman who seems perfect, but your now-ex-lesbian previous girlfriend wants you back so she can have a baby. It's good to be prepared for this situation. Unfortunately, in Little City there's no one to turn to for help, as everyone involved knows everyone else. The characters repeatedly comment about how in San Francisco one always encounters the same eight people. I suspect these characters are actually being shunned by the rest of the population. It's a bad sign when San Francisco thinks you're too whacked out.

Rather than being drawn into the dilemmas these characters face, I kept thinking "Damn! These people are royally mucked in the head!" Like watching an episode of Jerry Springer, my relief at the end was mostly due to having a life far removed from the sideshow I just witnessed. If you're in the need of a bit of perspective or just love watching emotional train wrecks, check it out. Otherwise, think of it as a blind date that you're better off without.

If you liked the movies below, you'll probably like this one (and visa versa):

  • Singles
  • Coyote Ugly
  • Bodies, Rest & Motion
  • Never Among Friends
