Evan's Eyes

Web Log Entry #0051, Thursday, March 13, 2003: Day 115

Anchorage Sunrise: 7:24am Sunset: 6:57pm High Temp: Low Temp: -1°

The cold and wind from the weekend persist. We've finally hit sub-zero temperatures this winter, and the wind-chill factor makes it even worse. My trips outdoors are from car to building, moving fast and trying not to swear out loud.

Another result of the cold is that a polar bear has taken to curling up in the semi-shelter of our entry way. I was nervous at first, but he mostly seems interested in staying out of the wind. However, every time I go outside he tries to bum a cigarette, and every time I say "I don't have any! I DON'T SMOKE!" I thought about buying a pack to give to him just so he'd leave me alone, but I don't think I want to find out where he carries his lighter.
